Junior Financial Analyst

Advance your career in the insurance sector for our client through a role that combines financial reporting, collaboration, and continuous improvement in a dynamic business environment. This opportunity offers the chance to support critical accounting and financial reporting activities while working closely with multiple business partners. You will contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the delivery of key financial objectives in a collaborative setting.

What is in it for you

  • Salaried: $40-45 per hour.
  • 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hybrid work model with 3 days on-site and flexibility in selecting on-site days.
  • Overtime may be required during month-end and quarter-end periods.
  • Flexibility to work from Toronto, Ontario, or Waterloo, Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly and quarterly accounting processes, including journal entries, trial balance uploads, JIRA requests, bank disbursements, reconciliations, and control checks, while ensuring timely completion.
  • Assist with consolidated financial reporting deliverables, including financial disclosure checklists and asset roll-forwards.
  • Prepare quarterly account reconciliations and supporting documentation for audit requests.
  • Collaborate with affiliates and business units to provide accounting support, oversight, and issue resolution.
  • Standardize and automate manual processes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in projects as required to support business initiatives.

What you will need to succeed

  • Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in finance or reporting functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proficiency with SAP.
  • Proficiency with Workiva.
  • Experience building reports in Workiva.

  • Progress toward an accounting or finance designation.
