About the Role

Join an early-stage AI company building software for complex insurance claims operations. As the first product designer, you will shape the user experience from research through delivery, helping claims teams work through dense operational workflows with greater clarity and less effort.

What You'll Do

  • Own the customer experience across claims workspaces, dashboards, and other product surfaces, prioritizing clear and efficient workflows.
  • Use behavioral data, heat maps, discovery calls, and direct user observation to understand product usage and identify improvements.
  • Partner with product leadership, forward-deployed engineers, and the engineering team to translate customer problems into workflows and implementation-ready designs.
  • Design interactions for AI agents that make their actions, sources, reasoning, and uncertainty understandable, while allowing users to review or intervene.
  • Improve an early product interface into an enterprise-ready experience, taking design work from discovery through delivery.
  • Establish design principles and a design system, and use AI prototyping tools to test ideas and assess their impact on users.

What We're Looking For

  • Five to eight years of product design experience, including early-stage startup experience as a founding designer or first design hire.
  • Strong UX skills with a track record of simplifying complex workflows through research and product usage data.
  • Experience designing dense, technical software used regularly by operational teams; insurance, claims, healthcare, or other regulated domains are helpful.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience with AI coding tools such as Claude or Lovable.
  • Experience designing AI or human-in-the-loop interactions is a plus.
  • Product design experience beyond visual UI design; front-end engineering experience is not a substitute for a product design track record.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $170,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa transfers are accepted, but new visa sponsorship is not available.

Location
