Staff Accountant

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Location: Richmond, VA

Department: Accounting

Position Range: $60,000 - $80,000

JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and works with all members of the Accounting department and will have responsibilities in all areas of financial analysis, general ledger maintenance, accounting practices, and accounts payable for Davenport & Company. The Staff Accountant provides accounting support and information for managers, staff, and Accounting employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Involvement with month-end close
• Assist in the preparation and processing of accounts payable invoices and payments
• Process expense reports for employee reimbursement
• Assist with maintenance of the general ledger and make journal entries
• Bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Sales use tax reports
• Support all financial audits and examinations
• Resolve requests in a timely manner, demonstrating a high level of commitment to meeting requirements within the provided guidelines
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience is preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Working knowledge of GAAP, accrual-based accounting, and fixed asset accounting is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to work in a team setting with a diverse group of employees, managers, and outside parties
• Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions
• Intermediate to advanced level computer skills, using Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL, Acumatica, and Concur, our accounting information systems is a plus

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
